Synopsis
Writer / widower Dan (Steve Carell) is raising three daughters and hasn’t been on a date in years. While at a family getaway to Rhode Island, he meets the amazing Marie, (Juliette Binoche) who immediately piques his interest. Unfortunately, she’s the new girlfriend of Dan’s younger brother Mitch (Dane Cook).

This film concerns a spelling bee, a quietly dysfunctional family, but more so the mystical Kabbalah. Your knowledge of the last item should probably determine whether or not you rent this film. I know next to nothing about the Kabbalah and therefore the deeper meaning of much that transpired was lost on me.
