Today, TechCrunch reports on some secret meeting where Google has something “really really big” in the works to take Facebook on head to head. Sounds kinda sneaky and strange (and a little Dr. Evil) but this is Silicon Valley.

so you're completely board of software in general? Tech? What aspect are you bored of? What do you like..what don't you like? - Zee at WeDoCreative Robert Scoble loosing it more and more everyday. - Svartling I never had it. - Robert Scoble I think it's a pretty fair assessment. We've had a surge of innovation in the last year, which has been followed by a shed load of copy cats and mashups (your service + his service = my service) with a few gems here and there. Hopefully in time something cool will rise out of the "me too" brigade. - Slippy Lane The only problem I see with web 2.0 is that it seem there's not many orginal ideas. I mean twitter comes on the scene and next we see 50 look alikes that don't seem unique enough. I believe there still is a vast area of ideas yet to be discovered but there are also a lot of compaines that will end up in the dead pool. - Colide81 The good news is that a lot of these companies on the list aren't very Web 2.0 ish... we're starting to see a new class of tech being trotted out, and a lot of it is post-Web2.0. I like where it's going. - Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins I think it's good the industry slows down a little bit and looks back to see how to get more people into this world. The early adopters are too far ahead of mainstream people. But, that aside, I'm getting tired of copies of everything. That's why they're willing to spend money on an event like this. And, Robert, I thought your post drifted from critiquing their sites to critiquing their products and business models. If any of these Demo companies are cool, please, someone else write about them so I can read about it later. - Jason Kaneshiro I think maybe the state of the US economy and our current political turmoil might be having an effect on innovation in "Web 2.0". We're all kind of focused more on the essentials than the "fluff" of which most websites are, as much as like to think they are life-changing amazing things.
