Some lead infinitely interesting lives, but have grown so jaded everything seems the same, and escape is sought. Italian director Guido (Marcello Mastroianni) is one of them, surrounded by eccentric actors, actresses, and producers, under constant pressure to direct his next film masterpiece, but his heart isn’t in it — and he wants out.
