what about never say never again????

  2. webomatica says:

I guess I should add that for completeness, but it was done outside of the usual bunch of Bond producers:

    Quote from Wikipedia:

“The film is considered ‘unofficial’ because it is not part of the Bond film franchise from EON Productions and United Artists, despite its currently being handled by the official film series distributor, MGM, who acquired the distribution rights in 1997 after their acquisition of Orion Pictures. The film also marks the culmination of a long legal battle between United Artists and Kevin McClory.”

What about the original Casino Royale???

  5. webomatica says:

Once again — Casino Royale (original) wasnt an EON production… I’ll get it on this list shortly as a bonus.

  6. Nemo Black says:

I am sure you are aware or at least someone else has pointed out that Barry Nelson played “Card Sharp Jimmy Bond” in CBS network’s Climax adaptation of “Casino Royale” in 1954. Here are the links from IMDB.com:

According to this site, CBS obtained the rights for only $1000:

Many James Bond fans either are not aware of this or refuse to accept this as a true James Bond movie. Personally I am a fan of the Sean Connery Bond flix, but I do tip my hat to Barry Nelson as being the first Bond. As pointed about previously David Niven is another unoffical Bond.

  7. webomatica says:

Actually I did come across it in my research. I haven’t checked out these original Barry Nelson roles. That would be a fun thing to see — I’ll check it out and add them as “bonus” reviews.

Once the door is opened to all these other Bonds out there, I wonder if I’ll have to review the For Your Eyes Only comic book adaptation :)

  10. Sarah- Jane Beswick says:

I am writing to you on behalf of the sixth form students at Ellesmere
College, Ellesmere, Shropshire. We are currently organising our Leavers
Ball, which will be held on Saturday 7 July 2007.
The event is organised by the pupils ourselves, which includes raising
all funds to host the Ball. This is a milestone event for us as it marks
the closing of a chapter as we all leave school and embark on building
our careers. It also gives us, the pupils, the opportunity to thank the
staff and parents for their support and guidance through our education
    to A level.
The 2007 leavers have voted to theme the event “James Bond — 007″. We
will endeavour to ensure that the marquee blends with this theme and I
am writing to you to ask whether you would be able to help us by sending
us some promotional materials that you may have relating to this theme.
I am sure that any help you can offer will really help make the night a
    great success!
We would also welcome the opportunity for you to include any advertising
/ promotional materials, which we will happily display on the tables as
    recognition of your support.
I really hope that you will be able to offer some help — please feel
free to call me should you wish to discuss this further. 07799065848.
Many thanks in anticipation of your support!
    Best Regards

Hi Sarah, I don’t have any James Bond memorabilia. You might want to check a James Bond collector — I think there is an author who commented on my other page: Best and Worst James Bond Films. Good luck on your project.

  12. Carmen says:

    Hi,

Anybody could tell me how many casinos have been depicted in any James Bond movie and in which movie it was? So far I have Montecarlo and Atlantis casino in Paradise Island (Bahamas) because, if I’m not mistaken, the location for the exterior of Casino Royale in this last movie wasn’t actually a casino but the Kaiserbad — Lazne I in Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic.

I would appreciate if you could share your knowledge with me.
    Thanks a lot in advance :o )

  13. webomatica says:

Hi Carmen, that’s a tall order. It seems Bond plays cards in a casino in the majority of films, and I’m not sure which ones were real and which ones just sets. I think I can do some research and get back to you, though…

  14. Laurie Dumas says:

Interesting! The Casino question is a neat piece of trivia.…
    Here’s another query.
Much like the superman figure in Seinfeld or the appearance of Alfred Hitchcock in his movies, has anyone been keeping track of which “Bonds” show him grabbing a piece of fruit to eat? (ie. Die Another Day — Pierce Brosnan grabs a grape from a fruit basket on a bedside table on the island of Los Organos).

It’s Bond trivia like this that makes us FANatics!

    Keep up the good work!

Look, Diamonds had Bambie and Thumper. That scene alone puts Diamonds on my favs list.

  21. stepcoach says:

I think your chronology is off by quite a bit. Casino Royale was undoubtedly the earliest Bond adventure, since it was during this that James received his 00– designation. Also On Her Majesty’s Secret Service most probably follows For Your Eyes Only since James is seen visiting Tracy’s grave at the beginning of Eyes, and she died at the end of Majesty’s, right?
There are several other mistakes, but I think you see what I mean. The franchise has not been filmed in sequential order.
Your original post referred to chronological order, not film release order.

  23. Karl-Heinz Smith says:

I agree with all the above ratings, except The World is Not Enough should be 2 stars, not 4. Its certainly not better than You Only Live Twice and The Man With the Golden Gun, and is not on a level with Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only.

Great work on the lists — excellent job!

Quantum of Solace — 3 stars. Good, but not up there with the best (4 or 5 stars). Some scenes a bit drawn out, Craig excellent. Decent women, but not memorable. A little harsh.
