My last post on Apple IIe games that frustrated me as a kid got a fair amount of reader love, so I thought I would write about some of my all-time favorite Apple IIe games. Here’s a pretty ridiculous website: Alexadex. It’s some kind of game where people buy pretend shares in websites. When their Alexa traffic rating goes up, so does the share price. You start out with $10,000 pretend dollars and try to make pretend money. Sounds kind of like Second Life. How do people come up with this stuff?

This afternoon my wife and I went to check out our friend’s Wii at a “Wii party” - he got it last week. There were a bunch of people trying the thing out, having a great time playing the Wii sports of tennis, boxing, golf, and bowling.

So Second Life was proving to be rather surreal, and stupid, because didn’t have any money (and don’t want to pay real dollars for Linden ones). It’s a big problem, because most of the environments are malls and clubs where there’s stuff for sale, and I couldn’t get my hands on any of it. However, today I did manage to score $200 (yes!) - how this happened I’ll explain below.
