Lee floats on his back in a pool of water, when actually, he’s floating in deep space. The time jumps to 48 hours earlier. Starbuck tells Lee about her orders to kill Cain, and asks for his help. Meanwhile, several Pegasus soldiers beat the crap out of Chief and Helo in the brig. Fisk stops them.

Starbuck is given command of the ship Demetrius sent on a secret mission to find Earth. Among her crew are Anders, Gaeta, Helo, and Seelix. The mood on the ship is tense as the crew isn’t completely confident Starbuck knows where they’re going.

As the Pegasus and Galactica vipers head toward each other, Starbuck takes surveillance pictures of a “mystery ship” in the Cylon fleet, using the stealth ship built by Chief. She returns to find vipers in disarray. Starbuck uploads the recon photographs to Pegasus, which distract Cain into calling off the attack. Adama and Cain agree to meet on the Colonial one.

The Galactica encounters the Battlestar Pegasus, led by Admiral Cain. It’s a larger and more modern Battlestar than Galactica, plus Admiral Cain outranks Commander Adama. It has been on its own since the attack on Caprica.

Cain visits Galactica and meets Adama and Roslin. Adama makes it clear to Roslin that Cain will take command of the military fleet. Cain informs them that she has a captured Cylon (Gina Inviere, a Six model) aboard Pegasus.

Helo is labelled a “Cylon lover” and and Chief calls his unborn child a “freak.” They come to blows on the flight deck. To burn off some steam, Chief decides to build a customized space ship out of spare parts. Eventually, the entire flight crew helps with this side project.

Diana Biers (Lucy Lawless) is a sensationalist reporter who shot some unauthorized footage of the military firing on civilians during Tigh’s declaration of martial law. Adama wants to give her unlimited access to the Galactica to humanize the military in the eyes of the civilian fleet - basically a PR move. Meanwhile, someone has left a threatening message on Tigh’s mirror.

On Kobol, a landing party of Roslin, Lee, Starbuck, Helo, Sharon, Zarek, Meier, and others wander up a wooded mountain toward the Tomb of Athena. Meanwhile, aboard Galactica, Commander Adama studies sacred texts, searching the location of the tomb. He decides to travel to Kobol personally and heal the rift between him and Roslin. Meanwhile, Zarek and Meier intend to kill Lee.

A third of the fleet follows Roslin - whom Commander Adama now considers a religious-fanatic-terrorist - to Kobol to find the Tomb of Athena which will hopefully point the way to Earth. Starbuck returns from Caprica with the Arrow of Apollo. Lee and Roslin are happy to see her, but surprised and angry to see Sharon - a known Cylon model. Her best defense is that she knows the tomb’s location.
