Spending Less Time In Google Reader

April 26th, 2008

TechnologyA few weeks ago, I felt overwhelmed by information overload and moved to think about how I wasted time online and alter my behavior toward efficiency. My first target: Google Reader.

Over the past year or so I’ve been a Google Reader addict, subscribing to about 200+ feeds, and literally churning through 500+ posts on a daily basis (about 1/2 hour a day). If you do the math, that means I’ve probably skimmed over 200,000 posts in the past year.

The really scary thing is: I seriously cannot remember more than a handful of them.

Most Bloggers Don’t Deserve Ad Revenue: What About Startups?

April 18th, 2008

TechnologyLouis Gray writes a good post concerning blogger’s desire to make a profit from their blog, calling this basic desire “shocking.” He points out the hard truth: most bloggers don’t make any money because they add nothing unique to the blogosphere. If they get “pennies” for all their hard work, that’s exactly what they deserve.

Apple Releases Apple TV 2.0.2 Update, Thoughts On Minor Bugs

April 16th, 2008

AppleApple Released another Apple TV update, 2.0.2, which took me a while to get around to because I wanted to watch Bulletproof Monk (thumbs down) before installing the update.

Anyhow, since installing the one bug that was bothering me since the “Take 2″ update is finally resolved. Basically, the Apple TV’s WiFi connection would randomly drop out, usually after a few days. Each time that would happen meant either re-entering the network’s password or restarting the Apple TV by pulling out the power plug (there isn’t a power button). So I am glad to report that 2.0.2 finally fixed that bug along with a generally snappier interface.
