2010: The Year We Make Contact

2010: The Year We Make Contact is a sequel to the masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey (2010 was made in 1984, but has no relation to the George Orwell book 1984, nor are we anywhere near going to Jupiter in 2006). Anyhow, initially it has a way of feeling useless, sort of custom-made for people that thought 2001 made no sense and were unwilling to read the Arthur C. Clarke book(s). But it soon picks up pace, and as events culminate, it captures a fair amount of the wonder presented in 2001.

A Boy And His Dog

Here’s the insane summary: Teenage Vic (Don Johnson… yes, that Don Johnson) and his telepathic dog wander the wasteland following a nuclear World War IV, looking for food and adventure. It only gets stranger after that; I’ll just say there’s a marching band in face paint and a machine attached to someone’s crotch.

Finally got off our duffs and saw a current movie. Little Miss Sunshine is 1/4 sincere feel-good and 3/4 black comedy, which results in a pretty decent date flick.

Was thinking about seeing a movie tonight, but looked at what was playing and it all looked like a waste of time. I did read about one movie that looks really funny, but it’s not playing in any theaters near me, or anybody else for that matter: Idiocracy.
