Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), the captain of the fourth starship Enterprise, must deal with the mad scientist Dr. Soran (Malcolm McDowall) who is obsessed with reaching the “nexus,” a mysterious paradise that can only be reached through a “ribbon” wandering through deep space. Complicating matters: James T. Kirk (William Shatner) fell into the “nexus” some 78 years earlier.
