All About The LOLcat

May 5th, 2007

TechnologyI’m sure you’ve heard of it - I can’t stop looking. No, I’m not talking about Twitter, I mean the strange creation called “LOLcats“: photographs of cats with cute phrases written in text message or leet speak on them.

The Complex World Of HD TV And Ensuing Confusion

April 22nd, 2007

TechnologyRegular readers might know I’m up on technology in some regards but hopelessly behind in others. Well, one area where I’ve been in the dark for the past few years is HD television (flat panels, plasma - whatever it’s called this week). We still have an old 19 inch AIWA tube TV, with a VCR built in. Its only inputs are the yellow, red, and white connectors, so yeah… it’s pretty behind the times.

Link Sharing: 4/12/07

April 12th, 2007

WebomaticaThe world is ending and it’s partly due to blogs: Read this truly depressing and bleak prognosis for the future, and note one of the potential causes: “‘declining news quality’ with the rise of ‘internet-enabled, citizen-journalists’ and pressure to release stories ‘at the expense of facts’.” That’s right, blogs are part of the problem? WTF?

Crazy Battlestar Galactica Theory #1: The Cylon Sex Disease (STD)

April 11th, 2007

Battlestar GalacticaOkay. I touched on this theory in an earlier post when I was searching for an explanation of why Tigh heard the music in the first half of the Season 3 finale.

I was pretty much joking, but I think this theory has some merit. Bear with me. It’s completely ridiculous, but hey, what else are we to do until Season 4 except wildly speculate?

April Fool’s Day Round Up

April 1st, 2007

TechnologyI thought about doing my own April Fool’s post (something about guest bloggers destroying this site, landing a full time job blogging for John Edwards, or quitting blogging to stay in Japan at a Zen monestary) but decided against it since jet lag is the mother of all procrastination aides and has a way of making written sarcasm sound cruel.

Instead, I settled on offering up a collection of April Fool articles I’ve seen pop up recently. Have fun:

Blogging Class War: Legislative Action, or That’s Entertainment

March 20th, 2007

BlogsIf a true blog class war breaks out, what should we do? A thread at Deep Jive Interests keeps getting longer (65 comments!). I suggest government intervention.

Narcissism: Apex of Web 2.0?

March 19th, 2007

TechnologyAre we at a high point of Web 2.0 before a leveling off - or worse? While many technology innovations of the past centered around increasing our business productivity, a lot of Web 2.0 seems dedicated toward social activities and entertainment - and particularly ego-stroking ones at that:

My Favorite Unusual Drinks

March 15th, 2007

Bottle capsI’ve been meaning to write this post for quite some time. Over the past year of collecting bottle caps (check out my site, Bottle Cap-O-Rama), I’ve voluntarily drank many unique bottled beverages. I’ve written short reviews on the other site, but haven’t posted many on this blog. So here goes, a sampling of some of the more unusual drinks I’ve tasted, so you don’t have to.
