Is Fake Steve Jobs Dave Winer?

July 18th, 2007

AppleWhat do you think? (found via Chuqui 3.0)

Things seem to be coming to a head in Fake Steve Land as an angry post revealed that perhaps Valleywag’s quest to out the dopple-guru was getting a bit intrusive.

In-N-Out Burger

July 17th, 2007

FoodOne thing that’s fun about living in California is In-N-Out Burger. Yes, in the land of organic wheat grass, Keller, Waters, and Naan -N- Curry it’s a bit simplistic, but as far as junk food goes I feel it’s the best bang for your buck.

Best Ad For The iPhone Ever

July 15th, 2007

AppleCheck out this two year old kid learning how to use an iPhone.

Either this kid is super advanced or the iPhone has a really, super easy to use user interface. I think it’s a little of both.

Some Funny Websites

July 15th, 2007

BlogsI was thinking about how one of the former Suck writers Owen Thomas is now working at Valleywag and how I enjoyed reading the Suck style of dense, bold humor back in the days following Web 1.0. I thought I’d share some of the sites I turn to for some laughs every once in a while.

The Art Of The Pitch: Ron Popeil And Steve Jobs

July 12th, 2007

AppleA while back I read the book But Wait! There’s More! about Ron Popeil, the infomercial king. It contained one section called “The Art Of The Pitch” that broke down Ron’s finely honed sales presentations into discrete elements.

Geeky T-Shirts I Own, Or, A Geek’s Complete Lack Of Style

June 5th, 2007

WebomaticaNote: This post started out as an entry to Engtech’s writing contest regarding T-Shirts, but morphed into something more ridiculous. I realize I’m past the deadline of that contest, so this is no longer an entry.

I’ll admit I’m a total fashion incompetent. Clothes have never interested me, and I’m pretty much comfortable in some variation of jeans, T-shirts, and nondescript shoes. It’s function over form, and I don’t really care about the form so long as it enables me to put it on and get it off quickly.

May 29th, 2007

TechnologyUh… yeah, if you want another language to add to your resume, check out LOLcode. It’s the goofy cute / leet speak spoken by LOLcats but applied to computer code. So all your standard favorites are there: Hello world, variables, loops, operators.

DVD Player Craps Out, Grey’s Anatomy, Taking Action

May 23rd, 2007

TechnologyLast night our DVD player crapped out. It just stopped recognizing the silver discs of wonder. Normally this wouldn’t be a pressing problem, but my wife is in the midst of a Grey’s Anatomy marathon. We’re halfway through season two where Meredith is revealed to be too easy for her own good and Dr. McDreamy’s wife gets poison oak on her nether-regions. In other words, not a good time for hardware issues.

All About The LOLcat

May 5th, 2007

TechnologyI’m sure you’ve heard of it - I can’t stop looking. No, I’m not talking about Twitter, I mean the strange creation called “LOLcats“: photographs of cats with cute phrases written in text message or leet speak on them.
