Simon poses as a buyer of mud and doesn’t do a very good job. Jayne is nervous because he has a history there. In the town square, they find a statue of — Jayne.

Synopsis
At a village celebration, Mal dances with a local woman. After the Serenity takes off, Mal finds she has snuck aboard the ship — and claims to be his wife.

Synopsis
Eleven years ago, a young Simon studies while a much younger River plays behind a sofa. Their father tells them Simon will become a doctor. Back in the present, Simon thinks the Alliance doctors have given River paranoid schizophrenia. Serenity lands on a planet where a rough hunter, observing from the woods, voices his plans to steal whatever is aboard.
