I think a week was missed here and there, but another Elite Tech News Podcast was recorded this past weekend. The Elite Tech News podcast contines rambling forward. I missed the episode from a week ago but participated in this week’s (number 17) — a fun suprise was the opportunity to chat a bit with Duncan Riley of the Inquisitr. The usual mix of tech, cool stuff, and pet peeves that pop up seemingly every episode, are definitely falling into a comfortable and hopefully entertaining groove.

It’s up to debate if these podcasts are getting better or worse information-wise, but I’d say they’re getting more entertaining. At some point the conversation diverged to recycling and Art blasted the theme song of The Jeffersons — a surreal moment I’m still contemplating.

The special guest this week was Aaron Brazell (Technosailor.com) along with the usual gang of Louis Gray, Frederic, Steven Hodson, Art Lindsey, and Mark “Rizzin” Hopkins. MG Siegler was haunting the chat room.

Two new Elite Podcasts are out in the wild; I forgot to link to the episode from two weeks ago (episode #10) which was entitled “Crickets.” There’s a good spot with crickets chirping when Mark said something nobody wanted to respond to. The special guest was Tamar Weinberg, notable social media expert and blogger, of Techipedia.

Episode #11 was recorded this past Sunday with a lighter crew, but there’s a rather amusing tangent into spilling hot coffee on one’s lap amid the usual tech subjects.

Yet another Elite Tech News Podcast is in the can, and this week the guest was the inimitable Robert Scoble, who graciously chimed in on the hot subjects of FriendFeed and Twitter.

Topics covered were FriendFeed adding rooms, Twitter not enforcing its TOS, the 3G iPhone, cable continuing to charge more. As for the latter point, several of us are finding cable alternatives like Hulu or downloading video content to a computer or Apple TV increasingly appealing.

This past weekend, I participated in another episode of the Elite Tech News Podcast. This one marked the first appearance of Louis Gray, who was as polite and insightful as one would imagine based on his blog. Other participants were Mark “Rizzin” Hopkins, Steven Hodson of WinExtra, Art Lindsey from Art Lindsey.com, and Frederic of The Last Podcast. Tony Hung didn’t call in but tossed a few comments via the chat room as we recorded, and MG Siegler (Paris Lemon) was busy on an airplane or getting In-N-Out burgers; I can’t recall.

Off the top of my head, we talked about identity theft, Microsoft buying Yahoo!, blog monetization, Radiohead, ISPs sharing our data with advertisers, and the weekly “bitchmeme”: Shyftr moving the conversation and republishing RSS feeds, and the implications for content creators.

Participating in this week’s Elite Tech News podcast was fun, but in a different way than the first. We had two new guests participate, Steven Hodson of WinExtra and Art Lindsey of artlindsey.com.

The other regulars were Mark “Rizzin” Hopkins, MG Siegler of ParisLemon, and Frederic at Last Podcast, and myself.

As expected, the cranky factor is dialed up higher than last week, but I personally found it more entertaining to listen to afterward. We talked about blogging life / work balance, Microsoft buying Yahoo!, iTunes, HD downloads, Linux, until things diverted into the Shel Israel puppet fiasco and bloggers quitting blogging.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to record a podcast with the L33t Tech News “gang.”

The Reddit L33t Tech experiment is a sub-Reddit where several of us self-designated “B-list” bloggers submit links to cool tech stories found during satiation of our feed reader addictions. That L33t sub-reddit recently passed 1,000 subscribers.

Anyhow, doing a podcast made sense since some of the L33t Reddit “gang” has substantial podcast experience. It was set up and moderated by Mashable’s Mark “Rizzin” Hopkins, and features MG Siegler of ParisLemon, Frederic of The Last Podcast and myself. Hopefully, we’ll continue doing this on a weekly basis.

Others who may appear in future episodes are Louis Gray of LouisGray.com, Steven Hodson of WinExtra, and I’m holding out hope for Tony Hung.

This “pilot” episode covers some amusing subjects like an orgasmic MacBook Pro unboxing, FriendFeed, Google, and WordPress 2.5.
