Synopsis

On Kobol, the crash survivors see Cylons building a missile battery in the woods. Crashdown wants to attack them since they have the element of surprise. Chief tries to dissuade him of this bad idea, saying Seelix, Callie, and Baltar have little military training. Crashdown pulls rank on Chief.

Synopsis

Due to the computer network hacking in Scattered, a Cylon computer virus has infiltrated the Galactica, causing a power outage. Several “toaster” model Cylons have boarded the Galactica, via a “heavy raider.” Lee is almost killed by one but an explosive round takes the toaster out.

Synopsis

Having shot Commander Adama, Boomer is finally discovered to be a Cylon, and is carted off to the brig. Roslin and Lee are both in the brig as well, following their presidential resistance. With Adama out of commission, Tigh becomes commander of the fleet in the middle of a Cylon attack. He orders an emergency jump, but the Galactica accidentally jump to a different location, separate from the rest of the fleet.

The first season’s largest plot arc deals with Cylons who are aboard the Galactica fleet and look like humans. This knowledge leads to paranoia which leads to a near-witch hunt (Litmus), and even to where Roslin believes Adama himself might be a Cylon (Flesh And Bone). Four agents appear in the fleet and cause problems, a Leoben model (Flesh And Bone), an Anton Doral model (Litmus), 6 as Shelly Godfrey (Six Degrees Of Separation), and lastly Boomer, who sets up bombs (Water) and finally shoots Adama during the season finale (Kobol’s Last Gleaming [2]). This paranoia leads to the parallel of America’s current war on terror, with references to sleeper agents, military tribunals (Litmus), and even questionable torture methods (Flesh And Bone). I like this use of science fiction to comment on current events.

A raptor with Baltar, Chief, Callie, Seelix, and others has crashed on Kobol. Baltar narrowly escapes the burning spaceship and collapses into the tall grass. He dreams that Head Six leads him into a grand, ornate opera house. Six tells him that he must be a guardian and protector of the next generation of gods, and this new member will be joining them soon. She leads him to a baby in a cradle.
