“YAPOE” = “yet another pair of earbuds.”

Once again, I left a pair of earbuds out on the desk and in the morning, found them draped over the cat bed. And as with earphones past — part of the cord was bitten partway through, rendering said earbuds useless.

Why I’m Not Optimistic On Win 7 Mobile

Most of the initial reviews of Windows 7 Mobile have been positive. Microsoft was smart to toss out the old and build something new from scratch, there are some interesting UI ideas, and the first salvo of ads are at least intriguing.

Still, I’m betting it doesn’t get very far.

Photographer Uses iPads To Light A Shoot

File under “amusing”: photographer Jesse Rosten found a new use for an iPad — photography lights. He connected nine iPads together in an array and the results are pretty darned good. As any iPad owner can attest, the light coming off the aluminum slate of wonder is darned bright — it can force cats’ eyes to dilate at 3 AM.

Not Looking Forward To Mac Mini RAM Upgrade

As common sense won and there’s no MacBook Air in the immediate future, I bought some RAM (4 GB) for the desktop Mac Mini. This Mac was purchased in late 2009, meaning it’s not the current, slim model with a round door on the bottom for easy upgrading.

OS X App Store: Vacuum Hose In The Wallet

One new feature demoed in OS X Lion (and coming soon to Snow Leopard) is an iOS-like App Store. And if past behavior with the latter is any indicator — this OS X version will be like a vacuum hose pointed into many of our wallets, sucking money straight to Cupertino and developers.
