After using the MacBook last night until the battery was drained, I finally heard the “whine” that many MacBook and MacBook pro users have been complaining about. I only heard it after I turned off the tv and the amount of ambient noise in the room had dropped to pretty much zero.
After obsessively tracking the computer via FedEx for the past few days, the MacBook was waiting for me when I got home. I’ve just started it up and am downloading a slew of software updates. Unpacking the machine was exciting; just like Christmas.
Bit the bullet and ordered the white base model MacBook. Apple sure sends a lot of confirmation emails. So now I’m guessing it won’t arrive in my eager hands until Monday. Now I’ve got the FedEx tracking number and can follow its progress.
Steve Jobs has a thing for cubes. The NeXT computer (big black cube), the Cube Macintosh (small cube), now the Apple Store in New York has a huge glass cube. Check out this video showing the unveiling of this puppy. So where’s the cube mouse?
Apple finally announced the MacBook, which I took peek at in the SF Apple Store during a work errand. It’s definitely a slick machine. The glossy screen and magnetic latch eliminate any protusions so the machine is left with a smooth, lipstick-mirror feel.
