Bird And The Bee: Mac Music Video

May 10th, 2008

AppleAs a Mac user I’m overly familiar with the eye candy depicted in this video, but not as much with the musical artist, Bird and the Bee. The song “Again and Again” is decent as well, if a bit repetitive. The video was made by Dennis Liu.

How To Get A List Of All iTunes Movie Rentals

May 8th, 2008

AppleFor obvious reasons, I’ve been keeping tabs on all the movies available for rent via iTunes. It’s actually not super straight-forward to get a comprehensive list, so I’ve documented some methods that use iTunes and a few website resources.

May 1st, 2008

AppleApple just announced the availability of more movies in the Apple iTunes Store, many on the same day as the DVD release. It shows the studios may finally be loosening their grip on digital downloads. But despite this great news, I won’t be handing Apple any more money than before.

How To Take DVD Screen Shots In OS X

April 18th, 2008

AppleScreen shots are easy to do on the Mac using Apple’s Grab utility. Unfortunately, Grab is disabled when watching a DVD with Apple’s DVD Player application. That makes it hard to use if you want to save an screen shot image of a DVD for say, a movie review or something.

Apple Releases Apple TV 2.0.2 Update, Thoughts On Minor Bugs

April 16th, 2008

AppleApple Released another Apple TV update, 2.0.2, which took me a while to get around to because I wanted to watch Bulletproof Monk (thumbs down) before installing the update.

Anyhow, since installing the one bug that was bothering me since the “Take 2″ update is finally resolved. Basically, the Apple TV’s WiFi connection would randomly drop out, usually after a few days. Each time that would happen meant either re-entering the network’s password or restarting the Apple TV by pulling out the power plug (there isn’t a power button). So I am glad to report that 2.0.2 finally fixed that bug along with a generally snappier interface.

The Oprah Effect On Podcasts And Other Technology

March 22nd, 2008

TechnologyI’ve grown slightly less obsessed with podcasts over the past year. In 2006 I was listening to TWiT, Diggnation, and a whole bunch of others daily, during my commute. More recently - not so much.

This has changed in the past month however, as the Apple TV has made podcasts more accessible. I’ve reinstated my former diet of audio podcasts, and video podcasts are much more satisfying on a large screen. Many podcasts play instantly via the Apple TV, rather than waiting for a download.
