About This Blog

Webomatica is written by Jason Kaneshiro. I write about technology, movies, music, and whatever else I find amusing. I’m a web designer in online education and a regular writer for the Blog Herald.

Advertising

  • Webomatica is a hobby - not a business.
  • Advertising: I display Google Adsense, Amazon, and iTunes ads to cover operating costs (so far, so good).
  • Please read this Privacy Policy regarding information collected for Google AdSense ads on this website.
  • Subject matter is chosen out of genuine interest - not to garner advertising revenue.
  • Inquiries about link sales / exchanges are generally ignored.
  • Press releases are acceptable if they fall under the banner of technology or entertainment.
  • If you want me to link to you, leave your URL in a comment. I’ll likely check out your site, and if it looks interesting, I’ll subscribe to your feed, link to your posts, and eventually your site will end up in my blogroll.

Disclosure

  • Financial Holdings: I own stock in Apple Computer, GE, and Whole Foods. I disclose my relationship with companies where appropriate.
  • I strive to maintain a clear barrier between this blog and my day job, so I don’t write about my present employer.

Comments and Email Policy

I read all comments. I hope for respectful, open discussion on any post. I view each comment as a positive: someone has visited and felt moved to respond. Therefore, I have yet to delete any thoughtful, non-spammy comment.

I reserve the right to delete: comments that are blatantly obscene, abusive, racist, sexist, or homophobic, and any comment that other readers might find extremely offensive or threatening. I also delete spam and links to splog sites or sites that I’d normally not link to.

Any email addresses collected will only be used for Webomatica-related purposes. I promise not to sell you stuff, bug you with irrelevant information, share your email with others, or spam.

[...] I created a new page called About This Blog. Its intent is to explain why I’m writing this Webomatica blog, where I’m coming from, and some ideas about keeping separate this blog and business interests. None of this will be news to anyone who’s read this blog for a while. [...]

  2. comment Gravatar More on Flogs, Edelman, and Disclosure » Webomatica - October 25th, 2006

[...] Anyhow, I’m liking the idea of a disclosure page (here’s my work in progress) which clearly lists any of the blogger’s relationships which could be misconstrued as influencing their positions. [...]

  3. comment Gravatar TechCrunch Out For Bear: Disclosure Policy.org » Webomatica - October 30th, 2006

[...] This is something I’ve been interested in, as I have some disclosures on my About page, but they aren’t formalized in any way. If bloggers followed a template, the consistency would make pages of this type more understandable to readers. [...]

[...] 2. Narrow your focus. It’s important to define the your blog’s purpose. If it’s subject-specific, this is taken care of. But my blog is personal, and could cover any range of subjects. I decided to limit myself to a few topics (tech, movies, music, comics), eliminating a vast number of things I could write about (like cats or how crappy my commute was) in the interest of not spreading myself too thin. 5. comment Gravatar Webomatica Ideas for 2007 » Webomatica - December 7th, 2006

[...] 1. Crack 50,000 rank at Technorati or 100 blogs linking in. 2. Figure out a way to get people to give me free stuff to review (music, movies, tech products). 3. Maintain my integrity - I won’t “sell out” or diverge from the purpose described on my About page. 4. More comics and book reviews. 5. A “recording” project: where my in-progress tracks are uploaded to the blog for people to critique and review. 6. Get my old Cine~matica videos online in Flash video format. 7. Look into Flash video as a method of reviewing websites. 8. Get through at least the first 50 of the AFI 100 Movies. [...]

Do you have Hawai`i connections? I only ask because your cat’s name is Lilikoi.

  7. comment Gravatar webomatica - February 17th, 2007

Yeah, I grew up in Hawaii. Lilikoi usually ends up being called “Lili” but you’re right, it’s a yellow passion fruit on a vine. My parents still have a ton of ‘em growing in their back yard.

Oh cool. I live in HI. Well, when I’m not in college.

  9. comment Gravatar webomatica - February 18th, 2007

Cool! I must say I haevn’t lived in Hawaii since highschool which was like - way too long ago. So my “local” status is fading away.

Cool blog! I really like the way your photos are displayed when you click on the thumbnail. I understand you are using Wordpress — what are you using for the photos to display in such a cool manner?

  11. comment Gravatar webomatica - February 18th, 2007

Hi Dean, the photo displays are via a plug in called Lightbox. Here’s the link: Lightbox JS. You have to code stuff a little differenty but it’s easy.
