Jobs Steps Down As Apple CEO
The news is everywhere. Personally sad, although this announcement has been expected for a while now.
Not much to add except an outline of a future post, about how much Apple and Steve in particular have personally inspired me over the years.
I think the long-term readers can fill in the blanks.

It doesn’t feel appropriate to go much further right now.
I have faith that Apple will thrive even after Jobs steps down, but it’s heartbreaking to see the man withering away. Even in his physically-diminished capacity, he’s had more vitality, drive, and focus than most other CEOs.
I think Apple will be fine short-term and depending on how much of his “DNA” he has seeded in the company, long term as well. I think of companies like Ford or Disney that continued for decades after their founders moved on. And Apple’s had several years to prepare this DNA seeding — a relatively better situation than a sudden death.
as for withering away — cancer is definitely rough stuff. But it looks like Steve has faced it with dignity and courage. Being able to focus on his life’s passions up until the very end is sad yet inspiring, too.
Like you, it’s been 30+ years of Apple products for me. So there’s a deep, deep emotional attachment to this company that runs all the way back to childhood.
What Steve J. has done at Apple is nothing short of legendary and amazing. The guy is to Apple what John Lennon was to The Beatles.
I’m really sad and bummed about the news but hopeful for Apple’s prospects if only for what Steve has instilled and built there with his great team.
If the resignation is because of his health (and it must be), I do hope his last days are peaceful.
Yeah… remember that Apple IIe program Adventure Construction Set? And then HyperCard on the Mac… I believe creative projects like that during our formative years helped shape how we earn a living today.
Are you implying Woz is Paul?
I thought about that a bit more, and I’d have to say Woz is more of a Ringo to me
