On A Replacement For Steve Jobs

July 22, 2011

Agree with everything written by John Gruber at Daring Fireball here. To sum up, the best replacement for Steve Jobs is really, nobody, but Tim Cook is best suited to lead the company forward as CEO. All the likely candidates from the outside sound like ill fits, and Apple is essentially being run by Cook right now without any problems.

The only wish I have is some charismatic individual delivering keynotes in that Jobsian style – Cook doesn’t seem to be that guy, and Phil Schiller is okay, but a bit dorky. I actually like Scott Forstall’s delivery. But this is the only place I can see where bringing someone from the outside making some sense: so how about Woz? Call me sentimental, but I’d like to see the other founder announce new products even if he has nothing whatsoever to do with their development.

Yeah, that’s kind of a dorky idea in and of itself but I already hit publish, so flame away.

That’s not a bad idea, though. I think it would be suitable.
