Apple’s “Lion” Event Hopes
Apple has a special event on October 20 via an invite featuring a lion — another cat in the series of cat-named OS X versions.
Likely:
- Based on the feline, a preview of the next version of OS X, to debut sometime in 2011. Don’t think iOS integration is imminent, but there’s lots of other things that could be in the works: Face Time integration with iChat. So many Macs with iSights, and MobileMe. Would like to see the under-appreciated service made free or see deeper integration. I’d also love to see some ways to control or send content from an iPhone / iPad to a Mac. Basically more info on AirPlay.
- New MacBook Air. I’ve held off getting a portable Mac this year because the iPad / iPhone has proved wholly sufficient, but thinner, lighter MacBook Air could be a possible buy — especially if cheaper. Fingers crossed that iPad sales have driven component prices down, but similarly not holding my breath.
- New versions of iWork, iLife.
Not likely, but possible:
- Verizon. Would really like some big hints dropped regarding a Verizon iPhone, but this will most likely drop in January.
- Stock split.
