What Do I Want In An Apple Tablet? Jeff Solomon Sums It Up

January 11th, 2010

This post by Jeff Solomon outlines everything I would want in an Apple Tablet, presented keynote style. Highlights:

  1. The tablet has a new UI, specific to the device.
  2. The tablet has custom, tablet-specific versions of iLife and iWork.
  3. Apple makes it easy for developers to port iPhone apps or OS X apps to the Apple Tablet.
  4. iTunes Store has monthly subscriptions for music and television shows.
  5. A New Mac Mini effectively replaces the Apple TV, and acts in conjunction with an Apple Tablet, so the Tablet can act as an awesome touch screen remote.
  6. Apple Tablet can screen-share with other Macs.
  7. Update to make MobileMe more useful.
  8. Steve Jobs comments on 2010 marking the start of a new decade of Apple innovation.

This outline is so optimistic, I don’t think it will actually happen — specifically the Mac Mini part, and the subscriptions for iTunes. But the Apple Tablet stuff sounds spot-on. My fingers are crossed both in hopes that Jeff’s vision comes true, and in preparation for some crazy multitouch gestures.
