iPhone App: Minigore

= 4 stars
Help John Gore, hunter, kill or be killed in this action shooter.
The Good
- Great graphics: a cartoony, blocky style sort of like plastic figurines. The playfield is at a slight angle lending the game some 3D.
- The gameplay is similar to iDracula: dual D-pad joysticks, enemies coming from all directions while your hero wanders about in the woods, and powerups. There are better weapons and clover leaves that transform you into a flaming bull. The controls feel smooth and responsive.
The Bad
- Not enough variety in terms of weapons, monsters, or power ups. Thankfully, updates are in the works.
- Both you and the enemies don’t interact with the objects scattered about the playing field (rocks, bushes, gravestones), meaning you can run and shoot through them.
Conclusion
As it stands today, Minigore is more of a foundation for a cool game than a cool game in and of itself. I hope the updates arrive soon.
I LOVE Minigore, and your review is spot on: For $.99, it’s a fun game as is, and it’s only going to get better in the future. I can’t wait for the updates!
Totally — game play, graphics, functionality is all there — just needs more stuff to kill, weapons, and power ups.
