James Cameron’s Avatar Trailer

The full trailer for James Cameron’s Avatar has finally hit YouTube. It’s very cool; I enjoyed watching it, but I must say the CGI still needs some work. The film’s effects were hyped as “groundbreaking” but from what I see here, it’s frankly, far from it.

I’ve complained in a lot of my movie reviews about modern movies’ over-reliance on CGI. This trailer makes that case stronger. I can’t say the effects are realistic enough to fully transport me to an unfamiliar yet realistic alien world. The 3D almost seems like an afterthought.

But in any case, judge for yourself.
