iPhone App: Touch & Go

= 2 stars
Action puzzle game where you remove blocks from the screen by matching three or more of the same color.
The Good
- Simple rules: move three or more blocks so they’re touching and remove them from the screen. Match four or more and earn a variety of power ups (bombs, time freeze). The game ends when the blocks reach the top of the screen.
- Neat graphics: removed blocks explode in a satisfying, glass-like shatter, falling blocks leave translucent trails.
- Entertaining physics: blocks bounce off each other, and gravity can change directions based on iPhone tilt. The game is very responsive; you can touch and drag any block in any direction and toss them with velocity.
The Bad
- Too easy. I could pretty much just let the blocks fall on their own volition and pass several levels without much effort or exerting much effort strategy-wise. Unfortunately without much challenge, the game drifts into novelty territory.
Conclusion
While Touch & Go earns some points with cool graphics and physics that break the block game out of the stereotypical grid, the game play sorely needs some tweaks to be a game I’d actually feel challenged by and want to play.
