iPhone App: Blocked

= 5 stars
Puzzle game where you slide blocks back and forth to clear a path for a blue block to an exit.
The Good
- Amazingly simple set up. You’re presented with several differently-shaped rectangular blocks which only slide in the direction of their shorter sides. Your goal is to get one particular, blue block out an exit on the right side of the screen. This trapped block and the exit is always in the same location, and it’s the number and arrangement of other blocks that determines how hard the particular puzzle will be. Many levels are surprisingly challenging, requiring you to slide the blocks in a particular order which is rarely clear.
- Folder paper, hand drawn doodle aesthetic.
- Five difficulty levels with several levels apiece means tons of puzzles to work through.
The Bad
- No helpful hints, only a reset button that returns the pieces to their original arrangement. It would be nice to have multiple steps of “undo” to reverse block slides in sequence.
Conclusion
Frustration followed by elation makes for an essentially perfect iPhone puzzle game. Highly recommended.
An excellent game and, I’m glad to say, one I’ve completed!
By the way, I’ve noticed your images aren’t showing up in Newsfire http://picasaweb.google.com/trg1973/ScreenShots…
Wow, I”m impressed!
Cheers! Here’s the proof: http://twitpic.com/24qa4
Doesn’t look like this game exists anymore, for some reason. Looking for a puzzle game, as the iOS 4-compatible version of Drop7 hasn’t been approved yet.
I see a bunch of other games that look similar, but no telling if any of them are worthwhile.
