iPhone App: MewMew Tower

= 3 stars
The object of the admittedly bizarre game MewMew Tower is to build a stack of cats as high as possible by dragging them out of an air balloon.
The Good
- Strangely satisfying to drag the cartoon cats down onto the stack.
- Different sizes of cats with appropriate sound effects for each. The ginormous cats are particularly hilarious.
- The stack responds to the tilt of the iPhone.
- When your stack inevitably collapses, there’s a funny animation of the cats leaping to safety complete with meow noises.
The Bad
- You can only drop a cat on the stack, and the dropping ability is rather inaccurate.
- Not much strategy other than trying to position the stack at a slight angle to prevent further difficulty.
- Will likely make no sense to non-cat fanatics.
Conclusion
This game is similar to Topple except is uses cats instead of blocks, and the gameplay isn’t as good. However, I have enjoyed MewMew Tower because it displays a cute yet nonsensical Japanese sense of humor and, well, I’m a cat nut. So I find it a little expensive at $1.99 but I’m not regretting the purchase, either.
