iPhone App: Audiogasm

= 2 stars
Audiogasm is a visualizer that creates trippy graphics based on sounds picked up by the iPhone’s microphone.
The Good
- Works as advertised, with a range of colorful graphics that change based on amplitude.
- You can take a screenshot of the visuals with finger swipe, which adds an image to your camera roll, which you can then use as a background image.
- Shake the iPhone to call up a different visualization style.
The Bad
- The graphics are nowhere near as cool as the latest iTunes visualizer (magnetosphere). It would be nice to have a larger range of visualizations beyond groovy lights on a black background.
- Besides a setting for adjusting the microphone volume, this app does basically nothing beyond the above two items.
Conclusion
While amusing, Audiogasm is essentially a limited-use demo app for showing off the iPhone’s microphone. Thankfully, it’s free, so when I eventually get bored of playing with it, I can delete it without any guilt.
