Netflix Partners With Starz For More Streaming Movie Content

I was recently browsing the Watch Instantly titles for our NetFlix Roku box and noticed some new titles that — surprise, surprise — I’d actually want to watch. It turns out NetFlix recently partnered with Starz Entertainment which handles cable video on demand. Gizmodo has the press release.
To see a list of just the Starz titles, just log into Netflix, click the Watch Instantly tab, click Genres and choose “Starz Play”.
I couldn’t help but notice there’s a fair amount of overlap with titles available from iTunes — some of which we’ve already rented — namely, Dan In Real Life, Superbad, A Fish Called Wanda, House Of Games, and Enchanted. Other titles I immediately queued up are Grindhouse, Platoon, The Jane Austen Book Club, and Flirting With Disaster.
Having both an Apple TV and a Netflix box has been entertaining beyond just the movies. At this point, pretty much any movie that shows up in Netflix Watch Instantly, I don’t rent from iTunes, because the Netflix box streams for free. So once again, I’m thinking Apple really needs to beef up their content offerings pronto because the movie rentals are becoming less appealing as Netflix adds more and more stuff to their platform.
