iPhone 3G Power Adapter Recall

September 19th, 2008

If you purchased an iPhone 3G recently, the included tiny USB power adapter may be defective. In certain instances the prongs may break off in an electric socket.

Anyhow, Apple recently announced a product recall (or “exchange program” to use the less scary term). Anybody with an affected adapter should stop using it and exchange the bad model for a redesigned one, which will be available starting October 10, either through an online order or at your friendly neighborhood Apple Store.

More details on identifying the affected adapters and the exchange procedure at Apple’s website.

  • Apple has repeatedly had power adapter problems. They go back to their first PowerBooks, continued with the initial iBooks, and again with the MacBooks.

It’s all about turning the revenue crank with little regard for the consumer.
