Twitter, Apple, Google, Now Netflix

August 14th, 2008

The random technology outages continue, but now they’re hitting extremely close to home. First Twitter eats it regularly, then Apple and MobileMe (ongoing), GMail bit it for a few hours about a week ago, but now… this just takes the cake. Netflix is having some technical issue which has resulted in no DVDs going out in the mail on Tuesday, Wednesday, and now Thursday.

When Twitter goes down, it doesn’t bug me too much, since they’re a startup and I don’t rely on the service. But now we’re getting into some pretty big names; publicly traded comapnies that should have this stuff figured out, and services I use on a daily basis.

Deny me email and Tweet functionaily is one thing, but movies – now that’s something serious. I have season one of Mad Men in the queue; the Netflix folks need to get this figured out!

Updates will be made avaliable on the Netflix Community Blog.

  • I think if Netflix fixes things by the weekend, they'll be ok. But I give them props for how open and transparent they have been with media. Apple could learn from their approach to crisis management. Here's my take:
  • NIce preview! do you think it will work really like this?! personnaly me, I don't believe! if one could simly predict everything the life would be too much easy!
  • Crisis management? Is this the state of our lives when we rely so heavily on technology.
