Twin Peaks: Dispute Between Brothers

Synopsis

After Leland’s death, Doc Hayward and Cooper comfort Sarah and attend a funeral dinner. Now that the Palmer case is closed, Cooper isn’t sure what to do next.

At the gathering, the elderly town mayor Dwayne and his brother Dougie nearly come to blows – they have some sort of rivalry.

Ed and Jacobi enroll Nadine – who still thinks she is a teenager – at the local high school. She’s excited to try out for the cheer leading squad.

Audrey visits Cooper as he packs his bags. She’s sad to see him go, but Cooper reiterates his promise to not become involved with her. He says he loved someone who was a witness to a federal crime. He and his partner Windham Earle, were supposed to protect her, but she was murdered. Cooper was badly injured and Windham Earle lost his mind.

Catherine tells Harry that after the mill fire, she hid in a cabin in the woods until returning to Twin Peaks as Mr. Tojimura.

Richard Tremaine tries to reconnect with Lucy. Andy interrupts, saying they should all be friends until they establish the father of her child.

Harry gives Cooper a fishing lure and a Bookhouse Boy patch as going-away presents, and Cooper says goodbye to Hawk, Andy, and Lucy. Just then, Agent Roger Hardy and a Canadian Mountie arrive to suspended Cooper from the FBI – Audrey’s rescue from One Eyed Jack’s wasn’t authorized and didn’t follow agency protocol.

Audrey makes fun of Bobby as he waits outside Ben’s office, hoping to talk to him. After Bobby tells Ben about the tape, two men drag him away.

Agent Hardy questions Cooper about Jacques’ death and Jean Renault. The Mountie says Cooper crossed the border illegally. They suspect Cooper was involved in the drug trafficking.

At the cheerleader tryout, Nadine does some crazy tumbling, and tosses another student into the air.

Bobby tells Shelly over the phone that his meeting with Ben didn’t work out so well. Leo moves in the chair.

Norma is disappointed that the restaurant critic “Went” panned the RR diner. It turns out Norma’s mother, Vivian, is “Went” and wrote the review. She says she can’t favor the RR just because Norma is her daughter. Norma asks Vivian to leave.

At One Eye Jack’s, Hank introduces Ernie to Jean Renault as a financial whiz. Jean Renault requests 125 thousand dollars immediately. He introduces an accomplice – the Mountie who previously questioned Cooper. The Mountie has a suitcase filled with cocaine and a plan to frame Cooper.

In the middle of the night, Harry finds Josie outside his door, tired and weeping. Hank pulls her inside and they kiss.

At a campsite, Cooper roasts marshmallows with Major Briggs. Cooper says he still contemplates BOB. Major Briggs says people choose how to react to darkness, sometimes with fear. He mentions a place called the “white lodge”. Something crawls through the woods. An owl is heard. Major Briggs disappears in a flash of light.

Thoughts

With the Laura Palmer case closed, the seeds are laid for a new mystery for Cooper to tackle, involving Windham Earle, his old partner. Unfortunately, as this new plot thread gets going, we must endure several silly new characters and plot threads that fail to gel.
