Tr2n Footage (Tron Sequel)

July 27th, 2008

As I kid I eagerly anticipated and was totally psyched to see Tron in the theaters. Well, at Comic-Con Disney unveiled footage for a Tron sequel, titled “Tr2n” - not technically accurate in L33t speak terms, but how else would you suggest spelling it?

Anyhow the footage is pretty mind-blowing from my perspective. A Tron guy leaps in the air and transforms into a light cycle, leading to a chase across a digital landscape. A bearded Jeff Bridges observes from above, and one of the light cycle riders is revealed to be a younger Bridges.

Obviously the CGI graphics have improved immeasurably yet still capture the original Tron rezzed-up vector-y feel. But there’s a logical explanation for this - computer technology has advanced since then and now, so of course the world would look vastly improved.

Then there’s Jeff Bridges - obviously come a long way since the original Tron what with The Big Lebowski and his recent turn in Iron Man. Here’s hoping this sequel rocks.

Here’s the blurry footage, enjoy it while it lasts:
