Looks pretty awesome - am thinking I might even join in this time. Way too many awesome things like this coming out, though - will have to draw the line at some point.

Heh... yeah I have some lines in place - I don't have a next gen console,
and don't play the MMORPG type ones (WoW). StarCraft is pretty self
contained to relatively short games, and Diablo was a good blend of a lot
more on action and questing and not so much the repeptitive character
building stuff that takes days. So I think (fingers crossed) I can handle
one or two of these games simultaneously and still hold down the day job :)

Oh man. I lost way too many days to Diablo I and II. I used to get together with four people and play through the entire game on a semi-regular basis.

As much as I loved Warcraft, I agree with you that MMORPGs are just too much of a commitment, and therefore WOW never interested me. I'm so glad they're coming back to Diablo, which has always been my favorite Blizzard title. Perfect blend of action and strategy. Sometimes you just want to swing an axe, man.

up my old posse as well :)

I never played Ultima or Everquest, but have played Final Fantasy XI and know what creates "commitment-paranoia"... oh how do I know. 30 minutes to get things in order and sit near quest zone (easily expanded to an hour+ if travel to zone is needed). 1 hour of looking for group in said quest zone. 3+ hours of grinding out exp; any less and it's an insult to the group. And I'm not even going into what you'd need to do during downtime to make money and crafting.

However, you'd be surprised with the latest MMOs, like WoW. Yes, there's commitment, but really only at the level cap (if you choose to raid or PvP full time). As you level from noob to boob you can easily spend 30 minutes and feel like you've accomplished something. Even in EVE, most of what I do is log on for a few minutes to start training a skill then log out. I'd spend some time playing in game to make money or explore, when I felt like it. Of course, the big downer is paying $15 a month for each subscription. Yet, find a group (like your Diablo posse) in any MMO that you can do stuff with and it makes it all the more worth it.

With that said, I <3 Diablo too. I can't wait for this and Starcraft 2 to come out.
