Battlestar Galactica: Sacrifice
Synopsis
Adama confers with Roslin and Billy about the potential threat of Sesha Abinell, a woman angry at the Cylons for the death of her husband. Later, Billy sees Dualla in a hall and gives her a ring. She says she can’t marry him.
Later that night, in a restaurant, Dualla tells Lee that there may be something between them. Ellen Tigh and Billy arrive (separately), and some awkward situations develop between the four of them. Suddenly, Sasha and three armed men take the restaurant patrons hostage. Lee tries an escape plan using dry ice and an oxygen sensor. Adama sends in strike teams to save them. Sasha calls up Adama and asks Sharon to be given to them in exchange for the hostages. Starbuck comes in undercover as a technician to fix the oxygen sensor but accidentally shoots Lee.
Adama talks with Sharon whom he still doesn’t trust. Adama asks Sharon to reveal the Cylons hidden within the fleet. She says no.
Adama gives the prisoners Boomer’s corpse instead of Sharon. They move to kill Dualla. Billy runs up with a gun and is shot. Just then Starbuck and marines come in to free the hostages. Billy is dead. Lee is badly wounded but will live.
Thoughts
This episode’s terrorist character, Sesha, is quite forgettable. The episode exists merely get the actor (Bill Campbell) off the show in an economical way. I don’t have any problems with killing characters, but I don’t care for building them up in one episode only to remove them. I believe this happened again with the death of Kat in The Passage.
Second, Lee has sure been getting crap kicked out of him recently. He nearly died in space and now this, shot by Starbuck, no less. But through the painful situation depicted here, he’s brought closer to Dualla.
Next Episode: The Captain’s Hand
Previous Episode: Scar
