Synopsis

On Kobol, a landing party of Roslin, Lee, Starbuck, Helo, Sharon, Zarek, Meier, and others wander up a wooded mountain toward the Tomb of Athena. Meanwhile, aboard Galactica, Commander Adama studies sacred texts, searching the location of the tomb. He decides to travel to Kobol personally and heal the rift between him and Roslin. Meanwhile, Zarek and Meier intend to kill Lee.

Sharon believes two distant mountains are the Gates of Hera which should be the tomb’s location. Sharon tells Helo that she shares all of Boomer’s memories.

Meier decides to use Sharon during his attempt on Lee’s life. He tells Sharon that Boomer was murdered by a human crew member and the crew let it happen.

Commander Adama, Billy, and Chief arrive. Adama is glad to see Lee, Roslin, and Starbuck, but goes into a rage when Sharon appears. He chokes her, saying “I want you to die,” but has chest pains and can’t finish the deed.

Sharon tells Helo what happened to Boomer. She says she won’t let anyone kill their baby.

They find the entrance to the tomb the next day. Suddenly, Sharon pulls a gun on Adama, and Meier pulls a gun on Lee. But Sharon shoots Meier instead. She tells Adama that she is not Boomer, makes her own choices, and is not acting on behalf of the Cylons.

Inside the tomb are broken statues representing the twelve tribes. Starbuck places the Arrow of Apollo into the archer’s bow. The twelve constellations of the zodiac appear, showing the star pattern if one were standing on Earth. Lee notes the Lagoon Nebula in the constellation Scorpio.

Back aboard Galactica, Adama gives a speech reuniting the Galactica with the rest of the fleet.

On Galactica, Baltar doesn’t understand how he can father a child with Head Six, and begins to doubt her existence. Laughing, head Six tells him there is no Cylon chip in his brain and he’s just crazy. Baltar asks Dr. Cottle to do an MRI to look for a “Cylon implant.” Nothing is found.

Later, Baltar sees Helo talking to Sharon about their child. Head Six says this is the child Baltar must protect. She claims to be an angel sent to protect Baltar until the end of the human race.

Thoughts

Although Sharon demonstrate her loyalty to the humans in a big way, she’ll have to do this repeatedly in future episodes, and even then, isn’t trusted for quite some time.

There’s an amusing mix of religion and mythology developing. The twelve tribes recall the twelve tribes of Israel, and their constellations are equivalents to the twelve zodiac symbols. There are also references to Greek mythology, in the names Hera, Apollo, and Athena.
