I Use Hulu — Reluctantly

I reviewed Hulu a while back. It’s a solid site and does what it claims to do very well: serve up videos.
I say reluctant because I am still rather miffed that NBC pulled its content out of iTunes and put its content on Hulu late last year. There is a very specific reason why this corporate move hit home: Battlestar Galactica.
I was hoping NBC would relent and return BSG to iTunes now that I have Apple TV and am all set and ready for it. Unfortunately Hulu put a wrinkle in that plan.
But in addition to BSG, Hulu has other content I’m tempted by: old episodes of “classic” Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, feature-length movies, and all seasons of Arrested Development, a show recommended to me by several.
So Hulu, congrats, you have the content, so I’ll visit your site. But I’m not exactly happy about it.

I forget the site — I’m slow that way sometimes, but there are a bunch of places you can (legally) watch all of Arrested Development (the greatest show no one watched).
I’d love to try Hulu. But I’m a Canadian and they hate us.
Hulu is awesome.
Why pay Apple when you can stream with a few commercials spliced in? For movies downloading from iTunes sorta makes sense but they require an Apple TV for HD…bullocks, I can watch HD fine on my computer, let me do so.
Note to self: another recommendation for Arrested Development.
Call it habit but I prefer to watch movies / tv on a television. Maybe I’ll just hook up the laptop to the tv and watch Hulu that way.
Yeah, that’s more fault of the medium than the service. Once you’ve got internet going to a nice monitor/TV, internet video becomes a very nice service and is only getting better. I’ve completely replaced my TV with my 24″ Soyo monitor hooked up to my laptop. Now that BSG is airing on scifi.com and hulu.com, there’s no reason for me to go back.
Yeah, I was bummed losing BSG, too. But Hulu’s really not bad. Free is always nice and the quality’s good, even the commercials are not too bad. Would still prefer iTunes but not by much. At least scifi.com is streaming BSG each friday at noon — so I’ve got two chances to catch it early each week.
I really don’t have any complaints with the service itself. The site is
solid and the videos look good. My complaint is the yanking of the content
off iTunes and other sites to keep it all on Hulu. The lesson as far as I’m
concerned (and one that Web 2.0 sites like Joost need to learn): content is
king.
I reluctantly became an atheist. But I’m fine with it now. The reason I was reluctant is because I wanted to believe there was a God, but logically I couldn’t see how it could be possible. So after constant debating with myself eventually I realised I didn’t believe any longer.
reluctant had noting with it
Content was copied, background music was dull
Was expecting more from this movie
