A Glimpse At The Future Of Apple TV
March 13th, 2008
Apple Insider has a look at some recent Apple patent filings that are more interesting than the usual stuff – there are tons of images outlining an Apple DVR – basically Apple’s take on a TiVO.

Most intriguing to me is a remote which looks like an iPod Nano. This design makes sense as the current Apple remote resembles an iPod Shuffle. But with the addition of a screen, one could look at an electronic program listing information while away from the television. The other thought I had is for IR to be added to a future line of iPods, so one’s current iPod could be used to control this future Apple PVR.
The rest of the article covers an onscreen interface for the Apple PVR to be viewed on a television. It makes extensive use of overlays, a dock interface, and will surely have the Apple polish.
If true, this technology implies that there will be a revision of the Apple TV hardware (isn’t there always?) adding this PVR technology. I’ll take a wild a guess of MacWorld 2009.
Very interesting … anyway the “touch” of apple you can see it everywhere … including windows
After I look at DVR interface … is looking like a MythTV with Apple Icons

Very interesting considering the recent revelation that iPods will serve as a remote control for iTunes- and Apple TV too?
