Battlestar Galactica: Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down
Synopsis
After killing the “Leoben” Cylon, Roslin wonders if Commander Adama is a Cylon as well. Baltar has completed his Cylon detector, but can test only one person at a time. Roslin believes Adama should be the first person tested. Roslin uses Billy to question Dualla for more information about Adama.
A damaged Cyon raider keeps jumping away and returning to the fleet. Tigh decides against shooting it down but uses surveillance to monitor it, and perhaps learn more about the Cylons. Meanwhile, Adama arrives in a raptor with a secret passenger, Tigh’s wife, Ellen, who has been missing since the attack on Caprica.
Roslin inquires about the results of Adama’s blood test. Baltar tells her that Adama wanted Ellen to be tested first. Roslin orders Baltar to drop Ellen’s test and do Adama’s blood first.
Reunited with Tigh, Ellen presents him with a huge bottle of liquor - and herself. Later, Roslin tells Tigh her fear that Adama is a Cylon. Tigh thinks this is ridiculous.
Tigh, Ellen, Adama, Lee, and Roslin have dinner together, and it’s soon clear that Ellen and Tigh have had too much to drink. Ellen plays odd footsie with Lee and considers Commander Adama a stick in the mud.
Disturbed by Ellen’s influence, Adama, Roslin, and Lee visit Baltar to find out if Ellen is a Cylon. Baltar has to admit that her test was delayed on Roslin’s order. Tigh and Ellen enter the laboratory, and Ellen claims that Adama was coming onto her. Tigh then tells Adama that Roslyn thinks he’s a Cylon.
The wounded raider crashes into the Galactica on a suicide run. Adama tells Tigh that he’s indispensable and Ellen can’t come between them.
Baltar is finally done with the test, and announces that Ellen is not a Cylon. Still, his behavior leaves this result in doubt.
Back on Caprica, Helo and Sharon run from Cylons through a sewer during a rain storm. Sharon has decided to betray the Cylons and be with Helo.
Thoughts
Everyone other than Tigh is quite unhappy about Ellen’s return to the Galactica. Is there a connection between the jumping raider and Ellen’s mysterious re-appearance? We also know Tigh is one of the final five. She also talks about how a “mysterious savior” saved her from Caprica, which sounds fishy. Ellen’s Cylon test result is irrelevant because Baltar is untrustworthy. He didn’t tell Boomer that she was a Cylon.
Other than this pondering, this is a comedic episode, which is unusual for Battlestar Galactica. It’s pretty average, and definitely falls in the category of “filler.”
