Synopsis
Hawaiian fisherman Ross Carpenter (Elvis Presley) must choose between two women, Robin (Stella Stevens) and Laurel (Laurel Dodge).
The Good
- One good Elvis number, the appropriately titled Return To Sender.
The Bad
- The movie takes place in Hawaii, but it may as well have been Mississippi. Many indoor scenes are surely staged on some Hollywood set. That’s a shame, especially after Blue Hawaii where many nostalgic Hawaiian locations were used to good effect. Girls! Girls! Girls! has the Ala Wai yacht harbor, a tuna cannery, and ocean.
- Songs about shrimping.
- It provides the minimum amount of plot between musical numbers to create a movie. Unfortunately the musical numbers are too weak to hold everything together.
Conclusion
Skip it. I rented this flick to hear Elvis sing several classic rock numbers and see some cool Hawaiian locations. I got neither. Rent Blue Hawaii instead.
