Word is spreading that the season premiere of Battlestar Galactica, season 4 will be April 4. Not too far away, indeed. It’s been a long wait. Co-executive producer Mark Verheiden wrote about this final season of BSG on his blog.

It seems at this date, season 4 will be broken into two, ten-episode halves. The first ten episodes which begin airing in April have already been filmed, but the rest have not due to the writer’s strike. I had read earlier that the strike has literally put the rest of season 4 in jeopardy - the show simply ran out of scripts.

While I support the writers in getting what they deserve, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the strike is indeed coming to an end and Battlestar Galactica can get the ending it also deserves. Due to the complex nature of Battlestar Galactica’s many themes, characters, and intersecting plot lines, only true writers could tie everything up properly.

I would be truly bummed if one of the best science fiction shows ever faded away with a whimper.
