The IT Crowd: The Dinner Party
Season 2, Episode 4

Let’s make fun of: new, lovey-dovey couples, the awkwardness of inviting co-workers to your home, the disfigured, the recently divorced, peter-files, and - well - the differences between men and women.
There’s one girl who uses quotes for everything to air in a sarcastic manner that catches the eye of the goth weirdo that I found really hilarious. The episode also the underlying theme of IT geeks being completely socially inept. While true, this episode also doesn’t limit that umbrella to just IT geeks.
The one flaw is it ends too soon without any wrap-up of the plot threads in some hilarious manner as previous episodes.
Still, I’ve decided this show considers nothing sacred and therefore I shall continue watching it to shake my head in amused wonder.

Front Page
I’ve long maintained that the halmark of a hilarious show is a laugh-inducing sex scene. In this episode, we finally get it. Well, more like we get to *hear* it. I crack up big time at the two points in this show where everyone goes silent and you can hear the Goth-dude letting loose his sex yelps from the bedroom nearby with his new lady. So freaking funny.
Your observation works for movies too - part of the reason why Knocked Up was so hilarious. Anyhow - I think what was funny for me was how Jen was so worried that the IT dudes would be the weirdest people at the party but it turns out the women were just as bizarre.
Yeah, it totally works for movies with “A Fish Called Wanda” being one of the most classic examples.
Hey,
