Blog Question: Why So Many Canadian Bloggers?

September 29th, 2007

Blogs
While looking at the blogs I read in Google reader for the 29,392th time, I noticed several of the blogs I read (and bloggers that read this blog) are Canadian.

I realized this earlier when I reviewed the movie Sicko and several Canadian representatives appeared who questioned that film’s platitudes of the Canadian health system.

I know practically nothing about Canada except a brief family vacation to Vancouver B.C. back when I was a kid. But I recently read that the Canadian dollar is now worth more than the good old American one. Some of my favorite underground cartoonists are from there. With global warming on the horizon, perhaps the weather will become balmy as California broils into clay.

Anyhow, so what’s the deal? What’s life like up there? And why so many smart bloggers?

What I’m not good enough to make your little list of Canadian bloggers?! (I’m totally kidding of course). What’s life like up here? Nice, but the burritos just aren’t as good.

Wait… you’re Canadian too? Whoops! Sorry about that; I just added your excellent blog above.

San Fran has the infamous burritos as large as a hamster but I’m undecided if that makes for a better blogger…

Dude I really was kidding you don’t need to include me in the list of good Canadian bloggers. List of Canadian bloggers who would kill for a burrito from the taquería behind the old Excite@Home buildings, yes.

Yeah I am Canadian I’ve just spent most of my adult life in the US. SF and Philly. But I am back home where I belong now, in a country that understands hockey is the most important sport, not football.

Everyone seems to have their particular favorite taqueria around here - I seem to have settled on Pancho Villa as there’s one in San Mateo near where we live (the other locations are in the Mission and on the Embarcadero) - they have a great salsa bar and a crazy juice bar.

Personally I think the dollar is in for some rougher times. Starting to think I should buy some foreign currency.

Maybe one of these days I’ll get up to Toronto :)

Canada rocks - Free health care. A democratically elected gov’t. Beautiful women.

OH - and from Caprica to Kobal, every second of Battlestar Galactica is filmed in Canada too. :)

I think there’s so many canadian bloggers because we have six months of the year where going outside sucks. :)

Abundant internet access, cold winters, and a general incapacity to shut our word holes.
