No Sales Tax = Mac Mini

August 20th, 2007

AppleYeah… so we went up to Portland, Oregon for a wedding over the weekend (congrats K & P). Still a really nice place; we went to college there. Not surprising that so many Californians continue to migrate north.

Anyhow, so at the Apple Store in Pioneer Place I picked up a Mac Mini - the cheapest model. My justification was somewhat straightforward for this impulse buy:

  • No sales tax.
  • Was recently updated to Core 2 Duo and 1 GB of RAM - faster than my MacBook.
  • Includes iLife ‘08 which I considering buying anyhow.
  • Already have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Our iMac is getting old, and because it’s a G4 I haven’t installed Adobe CS3 on it at all.
  • The Mac Mini is small enough that I could carry it on the airplane ride home with no problems.

So over the next few days as I transfer our lives from this iMac to this tiny computer I’ll keep you updated.

Disclosure: I own a tiny amount of Apple stock.
