Fake Steve Jobs Finally Unmasked

Apple The New York Times has the scoop. The mystery man is Daniel Lyons, an editor at Forbes.

The unmasking is the result of this article which laid out the evidence fingering Lyons as Fake Steve.

What I find amusing is Lyons has no inside connection to Apple or Steve Jobs..

“I have zero sources inside Apple,” he said. “I had to go out and get books and biographies to learn about a lot of the back story.”

Fake Steve verifies the information on his end.

Meanwhile, I’m sure the Valleywag folks are kicking themselves for not getting the scoop.

I'll be damned. I LOVE how he called out the VW folks.

Though I'm in the "I'd rather he have remained anonymous" crowd, I'm also looking forward to reading his other writing (Forbes is not a magazine/site that I read very often). But I thoroughly enjoyed reading FSJ, so now I'll pay attention to Daniel Lyons other stuff.

Totally unrelated - does "University Update" link to nearly everything you write too? I don't know what on earth those folks are up to, but they pingback/trackback damn near everything I publish...

Hi Ross (I'm in pain after watching Freddy Got Fingered... ) - FSJ is probably the best PR Mr. Lyons could have asked for regarding his book.

ANyhow I don't know what University Update is all about either - I've been deleting the trackbacks since they just seem to link to everything.

So. Awesome. I can't believe you actually watched it. If it helps, the images that you think you'll have burned in your brain, they do fade.. over time. I can't believe you actually sat through the entire thing.

I cant believe they unmasked him! His site was only that good cause of the anonymity, he could get away with things when people didnt know who he was, i reckon interest will die down cause he'll have to change his tack.
