“Cloverfield” J.J. Abrams Movie

MoviesSeems like a fair portion of the Internet is discussing the crazy, ambiguous sci-fi trailer for an unnamed film that is showing in front of Transformers. It’s going by the name “1-18-08″ or “Cloverfield” and is produced by J.J. Abrams, the mind behind Lost, Alias, and the new Star Trek film.

People with either overactive imaginations or a lot of time on their hands are invited to figure out what the heck this is all about, as a secretive film with no title and no plot synopsis just begs for reading between the lines. So there’s a site already set up that might reveal something (you can drag the pictures around), and this one people think is related but might not be.

Maybe some of these sites have something to do with it:

Speculation includes a movie battle between aliens and gods, a Godzilla sequel, the next season of Lost, or a remake of a Japanese horror film.

Other thoughts abound at everyone’s favorite movie site, Ain’t It Cool.

I think the whole ambigious viral marketing thing is pretty powerful - I got sucked into the Who Killed Evan Chan? thing for Artificial Intelligence as well as the Google Da Vinci Code games where if you solved a puzzle fast enough you won a replica of the codex used in the film.

I’m resisting digging too much deeper into “Cloverfield” because I don’t have the time, but I eagerly look forward to whatever this is.

    This viral marketing campaign really is fascinating. The Gossip Rag has started a "Clover Watch" to track the latest surrounding the project. Pretty interesting.

    Cloverfield is an ARG started by the producer of LOST- J.J. Abrams and Paramount Pictures. The untitled trailer before the movie Transformers, holds all the clues you need to start the game.

    I played The LOST expierience for FIVE months over the LOST hiatus last year. It was very fun and involving. This one, however, is very difficult!

    When you are involved in the game (and know what is REALLY going on) go to ethanhaas.org . You will find a series of links at the bottom of your screen. These are ALL related to the game!!!!

    One of the links is THE HANSO FOUNDATION! I clicked on the link and saw a letter from Hanso, explaining his situation and his newly found freedom.
    There seems to be some text on the bottom of the letter. I've never seen it before! It's hard to read. Has Hanso been infiltrated by Cloverfield? Or the other way around?

    J.J. Abrams loves a good hunt and a good laugh! He has SET-UP and DENIED websites (ethanhaaswasright.com) (ethanhaaswaswrong.com) to keep one step ahead of the intellegent and relentless findings of us, the players.

    He's gotta keep this thing going until January, remember?

    Dedicated gamers and fans, Don't believe the hype! Go to those websites and play the game!
    Abrams has, in the past, SET-UP and DENIED several websites throughout the LOST expierience that were actually involved.
    No more wild goose chases! I've learned my lesson.

    I know the ethanhaaswasright.com are for Cloverfield, because each time you finish a piece of the puzzle, you get a video clip from a person who is hiding underground seeking the truth.
    (Sounds like The LOST Expiereince to me....)

    Also, the name Ethan strikes me as odd. Ethan Rom, Ethan Haas? Puzzles and video clips? How can anyone tell me that those "fake" websites are not part of J.J.'s wonderous creation!!!! He's laughing at us, people!
    He states in an interview that there are websites out there that haven't even been found, yet! UNTIL I CAME ALONG!!!!!

    Another interesting side note:
    Cloverfield premiers in January. LOST starts again in February.
    The names Ethan along with Hanso, are both tied to Cloverfield and LOST.
    Abrams is keeping us busy for yet, another Summer, until both premiere.
    How genius!!!!!
    Isn't it cool to be a part of something that only select people know about?

    F.Y.I: There are distinctly 2 seperate girls in the 1-18-08.com pic. I went through the whole trailer and when they run outside, you can see the two girls standing next to each other for a split second.

    The movie is named "1-18-08" because that is when the event accures. If you go to http://www.1-18-08.com/ and you look at the bottom of the pics the date is 1-18-08. The name is 1-18-08 and will be released on 1-18-08

    Check out my blog. I have figured out the title to this UNTITLED JJ ABRAMS film…..please read….there is a lot of info that is already out there but a lot of it isn't really too known...also, towards the bottom, there is some good info for ya.....
