Poll Results: Web 2.0

July 5th, 2007

Over the past month I had a fun poll in the sidebar regarding Web 2.0. I thought it would be a good way to gague interest in the actual concept, with an alterior motive whether I should continue writing about the subject on this blog.

Anyhow, here are the results:

Web 2.0?

  • What’s that? 26 votes
  • Tired. 16 votes
  • Wired. 13 votes
  • Inspired. 9 votes
  • You’re fired. 9 votes
  • Not insignificant permanent shift (added by a guest) 1 vote

The top choice was “What’s that?” which I interpret as most of you out there don’t even know what Web 2.0 is. Maybe some of you would care if better informed. Slightly more interesing is that “Tired” fell in second place with 16 votes, leading me to believe that at least for readers of this blog, Web 2.0 is not as interesting as it once was.

The end result? Well, last week I nuked the Web 2.0 category and rolled it into “technology”.

I still want to cover new and fun Web 2.0 websites, but only when I feel moved to, not out of obligation. Although, with the advent of such “innovations” as MizPee and a sports guy strapping a web cam to his head, my resistance is made infinitely easier. I’m trying to follow the advice that if you can’t say anything nice, it’s better not to say anything at all, even if it’s funny. Like sock puppetry.

Lastly, there’s a new poll up. Have fun.

  • How about adding "Not available in my country" to the poll. Or, "Not available in my country and I'm still not sure I'd buy one, at least the first gen, and ideally after a price drop cause that's a damn expensive phone, even if it is pretty slick". :)
  • Did you know there is a way to add a choice of your own as a guest? Well, I'll do it for you this time, because Charton Heston was a rather weak funny option on my part... yours is better...
