Adobe CS3 Notes: Video Workshop And Workflow Guide

July 3rd, 2007

Web DesignIncluded in Adobe CS3 is a Video Workshop DVD and a Workflow Guide booklet. The DVD contains a wealth of video tutorials from both Adobe and lynda.com which provide a solid overview of the new aspects of CS3 and how to use them.

Video Workshop

The videos are served up via a Flash interface, so the disc also works as a demonstration of Flash Video. You can sort the videos by subject or the application you’re interested in. They are screen capture videos with audio narration. The best part about having tutorial videos is the ability to pause and review the information.

The video tutorials are of varying skill levels which is a big plus. For example, the Flash videos I watched varied by skill level - for people who are more comfortable with the timeline and components vs. those who do everything via ActionScript in one frame.

The same interface and videos are online at Adobe.

Workflow Guide

If you prefer a more traditional approach, the Workflow Guide is a rather thick booklet that covers each Web Premium program and the major changes. A strip of icons on the right of each page indicates which program you’re learning about, so using the guide as a reference is easy.

A working example is provided through a common project of Aquo that makes its way through each program.

Inserted in between sections are profiles of people using the Creative Suite for their work. Duoh! n.v., Natzke Design, and Adobe Experience Design (XD).

You can download the Workflow Guide from Adobe here.

Overall Adobe has put a huge amount of effort into unifying the Creative Suite applications, through interface, features, and having them work together more seamlessly.
