iPhone: Update From The Palo Alto Store #2, More Links
Photo by JC: iPhone: Palo Alto Appple Store Line #2
Another update from JC who is waiting in line at the Palo Alto Apple Store:
Less than 6 hours to go. The line is now almost to the end of the block. These people are all behind me. Good thing I left earlier than I had originally planned.
I have to try to download iTunes 7.3. Don’t know if I can get close enough to the WiFi spot for that long.
I just met Bill Atkinson. If you don’t know who he is, look him up. Hypercard, among many other things.
Free bagels. Free water. Free pizza. And now free snowcones. This is definitely a party. Lots of web companies donating food.
The Apple Store is about to close until 6. Four hours to go.
The mention of web companies donating food is total Silicon Valley. I think my favorite Bill Atkinson tidbit is where Susan Kare made Mac icons of Bill and Steve Jobs while working on the original Macintosh computer at Apple.
Meanwhile, I think the iPhone related links I’m finding are getting both odder, funnier, and hyped-out:
- Kevin and Alex of Diggnation are iPhone gaga.
- Fortune: How The iPhone Will Change Computing. Focuses on Internet access everywhere.
- Steve Jobs is nervous.
- Can Apple survive without Steve Jobs? Maybe the guy in the iPhone demonstration videos is being groomed as a replacement.
- The San Francisco Chronicle asks readers: is the iPhone overhyped?
- iPhone vs. Paris Hilton Hype Competition.
- Valleywag is having a field day. Video of someone offering 30 lap dances to anyone waiting in an iPhone line to give up their place.
- Make your own iPhone with duct tape and the appropriate technologies.
- Think Secret has a gallery of full resolution screen shots. Of the iPhone.
- Greg Packer, first in line at the New York Apple Store, has a blog. Why does this not surprise me?
Disclosure: The above reference to “Paris” could be Paris the city, Paris Gellar from Gilmore Girls, ParisLemon the blogger, or Paris Hilton. I have no financial relationship with any of them.
