iPhone Insanity Update #4: San Francisco, Burlingame, The End

June 29th, 2007

AppleFinal flurry of updates.

Around 6:30, JC got an 8GB at the Palo Alto store and said they had plenty still in stock. Thanks to JC for all the cool updates and pictures as the day progressed.

My other buddy CC went to an AT&T store in the East Bay somewhere, around 5. He emerged victorious with an 8 and 4GB. Here’s the picture he sent of the line, and another holding his new iPhone:

As for myself, on my way home I swung by the downtown San Francisco Apple Store. It was a freaking media circus - clowns, news crews, a huge clot of people trying to get in the store, and a line that wound around the block. No thanks!

Upon arriving home my wife and I went to the Burlingame Apple Store around 8 PM. No line, just a large crowd of people inside checking out the iPhone. They were sold out of the 8GB models, but still had some 4GB. I’m not biting just yet.

I did get a few minutes of hands-on time with the iPhone. It’s light and thinner than I imagined. Hard to believe all the hardware packed inside. The GUI is very responsive, and the screen is sharp and clear. Here are some pictures:

All in all, a pretty insanely great couple of weeks building up to this iPhone Insanity Explosion. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I’m going to try and resist the reality distortion field for a while longer, but resistance may be futile…

Update #1: Now that it’s Saturday morning I’m seeing many people posting their experiences and thoughts about their new iPhones. Here are some links:
